Acute Tick Bite Telemedicine Visit

This page is for both new acute tick bite visits and follow-up acute tick bite visits. A new visit is $375. A follow-up visit, for patients who have already had their initial acute tick bite visit, is $225. Complete the quick eligibility check below, then book and pay for whichever one you need.

The Acute Tick Bite Telemedicine Visit is a video visit with Dr. Jamie Lorrigan, DNP, APRN, for anyone 13 or older who lives in Wisconsin or is in Wisconsin at the time of the visit, and who found and removed a tick recently. It is $375, about 60 minutes, video only, and separate from becoming a new patient of Green Medicine of Wisconsin in Oshkosh. Check your eligibility below, then book and pay.

You found a tick, you removed it, and you want a clinical answer fast from a Lyme-literate provider. This visit puts you in front of one by video. Our Lyme care is guided by the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS).

Who this is for

This visit is for an acute tick bite only: a tick you found and removed recently, with or without a rash. If you need care for chronic Lyme, long-term Lyme symptoms, or other tick-borne illness, please do not book this visit. Use our regular new patient pathway instead so we can route you through the right channel, and read about our Lyme and tick-borne illness care.

Eligibility

Please confirm all four before booking:

  • You are a Wisconsin resident, or you are physically located in Wisconsin for the visit.
  • You are 13 years of age or older.
  • You are not enrolled in or eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP.
  • Your concern is an acute tick bite, recent in onset, not a chronic or ongoing condition.

4. Is this visit for an acute, recent tick bite, and not a chronic Lyme or long-term tick-borne condition?

What you get

  • An initial video visit with Jamie Lorrigan, DNP, APRN, an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Lyme-literate provider. About 60 minutes. $375.
  • A Lyme-literate early care plan. Jamie may recommend antibiotics, targeted supplements, herbal antimicrobials, supportive care, or a combination, with the course length matched to your situation.
  • Any prescription routed to your preferred pharmacy. Any recommended supplements or supports come with a clear list.
  • Up to two follow-up video visits, generally at 4 weeks and 8 weeks after the initial visit. $225 each, about 30 to 45 minutes. Book the 4-week follow-up when you book your first visit. The 8-week visit is optional.
  • Care under the acute bite pathway runs up to 12 weeks total.

How it works

  1. Check your eligibility. The pre-screen above.
  2. Fill out the Quick Start form. About 2 minutes: name, date of birth, address, phone, email, and how you want your video link.
  3. Book your visit. Pick a slot with Jamie Lorrigan, using the same email.
  4. Book your 4-week follow-up. Pick it now so it is on the calendar. You can move it later.
  5. Pay for the visit. $375 for a new visit. A follow-up is $225, paid any time up to 48 hours before it.
  6. Complete your health history form. We email it right after you book. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Finish it before your visit.
  7. Have your video visit. Jamie Lorrigan sends your video link the way you chose, by text or email, then reviews your answers with you, evaluates the bite, and decides on the plan. Any prescription is sent to your pharmacy right after the visit. Any recommended supplements or supports are shared with you in writing.
  8. 4-week follow-up. A $225 video visit to check on symptoms and review your plan. Treatment is not renewed or extended without it.
  9. 8-week follow-up, optional. A second $225 video visit. Care under the acute bite pathway ends 12 weeks after the initial visit.

Policies

  • Video only. Every visit in this pathway is by video. You need a device with a camera and a stable internet connection. We do not offer phone-only visits for this pathway.
  • Cancellation and no-show. Cancellation more than 24 hours before your appointment: 50 percent refund of the visit fee. Cancellation within 24 hours: no refund, plus a $50 late-cancellation fee. No-show without notice: no refund, plus a $50 no-show fee.
  • Eligibility-hold refund. If we find after payment that you do not meet the eligibility for this pathway (Wisconsin location, age 13 or older, not on Medicare or Medicaid, acute and not chronic), you may request a 50 percent refund of the visit fee.
  • Forms before visits. If your health history form is not done before your visit, we reschedule you once. If it is still not done at the rescheduled visit, the visit does not proceed and the fee is forfeited.
  • This does not make you a regular GMW patient. This visit does not establish you as a regular patient of Green Medicine of Wisconsin. If you want ongoing care, you can apply through our regular new patient pathway afterward.
  • Follow-up to continue treatment. Treatment from this pathway is not renewed or extended without a follow-up visit. Care ends 12 weeks after the initial visit.

What will my plan include?

Your visit follows Lyme-literate, ILADS-informed care for an acute tick bite. The plan may include antibiotics, targeted supplements, herbal antimicrobials, supportive care, or a combination, with course length matched to your case. The exact decision is made on the video visit and depends on your history, the bite details, and any symptoms.

What if I cannot get to a video visit?

This pathway is video only. Wisconsin telemedicine rules require a real evaluation, and video is how we do it. If video is impossible for you, call the clinic and we will point you to the right alternative, which may be an in-person urgent care.

What if my form is not done before the visit?

We reschedule you once at no charge. If the form is still not done at the rescheduled visit, the visit is forfeited along with the fee. The health history form takes 5 to 10 minutes. Do it as soon as it arrives after you book.

Do you take insurance?

No. This is a self-pay visit at $375. We cannot see patients who are enrolled in or eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP through this pathway.

Will I definitely get a prescription?

No. The intake form alone is not a prescription, and payment is not a prescription. Jamie Lorrigan evaluates you on the video visit and decides what is clinically right for you. The plan may include antibiotics, targeted supplements, herbal antimicrobials, supportive care, or a combination. If a medication is appropriate, she picks the right one for your situation, taking into account pregnancy, breastfeeding, allergies, and other medications you take.

What if I live outside Wisconsin?

Our providers are licensed in Wisconsin only and we cannot prescribe across state lines. If you can travel to Oshkosh, we offer in-person visits. Otherwise we recommend contacting a local provider or urgent care for tick bite evaluation.

Can my child be seen?

The visit is for patients 13 years of age or older. Our provider is not currently seeing patients under 13 for this visit. Please contact your pediatrician or urgent care for evaluation.

Does this visit make me a patient of Green Medicine?

No. This visit does not establish you as a regular patient of Green Medicine of Wisconsin. If you want ongoing care, you can apply through our regular new patient pathway afterward. New patient care begins in person at our Oshkosh clinic.

What to do about the tick right now

You can take these steps now whether or not you have booked yet. They help any provider give you better care.

  1. If the tick is still attached, remove it. Use fine-tipped tweezers, grasp as close to the skin as possible, pull steadily without twisting. Do not crush it. Wash the bite area and your hands with soap and water.
  2. Save the tick if you can. A sealed bag, a small jar, or tape on paper all work.
  3. Photograph the tick and the bite if possible. Place the tick on a coin or piece of paper for scale.
  4. Note the date, location on your body, and where you were when bitten. Geographic location matters because tick-borne disease prevalence varies by region.
  5. Watch for symptoms. Bullseye rash, spreading rash, fever, joint pain, headache, fatigue, or unusual neurological symptoms. If any of these appear, call us at 920-651-3600. For the severe symptoms listed at the top of this page, call 911 or go to the emergency department.
