Melatonin is the hormone your pineal gland releases as evening falls and ambient light drops. It is the body's signal that the day is closing and the night-time repair window is opening. Melatonin CR is a time-release tablet, which means a small amount is delivered over several hours rather than all at once. That release pattern is meant to mirror the way the body itself produces melatonin overnight.

What sets this formula apart is the controlled-release matrix. Many quick-release melatonin products help with sleep onset but do not stay with you through the second half of the night. The CR design supports both the falling-asleep window and the staying-asleep window, with a 5 mg dose plus B6 and a small amount of calcium as cofactors.

Melatonin is the most direct circadian-rhythm support there is. It belongs in the sleep category, but it also overlaps with daytime mood, because steady overnight melatonin influences mood, memory consolidation, and how you feel the next morning. The work upstream is still light-management: bright light by day, dim light after sundown. Melatonin supplementation is most useful as a layer on top of that, not a substitute for it.
