Milk thistle's active fraction is a group of flavonolignans collectively called silymarin. Silymarin works at the membrane of liver cells, where it supports the cell's antioxidant economy and the steady turnover of glutathione. The liver runs constant work on metabolic conversions and clearance, so the more support you can give the membrane and antioxidant pool, the more capacity the organ has to keep up with daily inputs.

What sets this complex apart is the supporting cast. Standardized milk thistle is paired with N-acetyl-cysteine, a precursor to glutathione, plus turmeric, artichoke leaf, superoxide dismutase, beet root, and boron.
