The gut microbial community is layered, with different ecological zones from the small intestine to the colon. Ortho Spore IG combines three spore-forming Bacillus species (coagulans, clausii, subtilis) with serum-derived bovine immunoglobulins. The spore form survives stomach acid intact and germinates further down, and the immunoglobulins bind microbes and microbial byproducts in the gut lumen so they can pass through without provoking the local immune tissue.

What sets this formula apart is the two-part approach. Most probiotics deliver bacteria alone. The added immunoglobulins act in the gut lumen rather than systemically, and they help create the conditions in which the introduced spores can establish.

This is a nutrition supplement focused on the small intestine specifically, where the brush-border lives and where most nutrient absorption happens. The deeper why behind gut work is rebuilding the environment, not just adding cells, so that the resident community can do its own job.

I generally suggest taking this with a meal and treating it as a defined regimen rather than an open-ended daily, especially when the goal is rebalancing the small-intestinal terrain.
