Formula Overview

Orthomega 820 provides 820 mg of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), plus 50 mg of docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), per soft gel as re-esterified triglycerides, the form with superior absorption. Vitamin E (as mixed tocopherols) and rosemary extract are included to support purity and freshness.

Most patients I see are running short on the long-chain omega-3 fats EPA and DHA. Modern food is rich in omega-6 from seed oils and very poor in marine omega-3, and the imbalance is something the body feels in the cell membrane. Cell membranes built with the right fatty acids communicate well, respond to insulin properly, and quiet down between signals.

Orthomega 820 delivers 820 mg of EPA and DHA, plus 50 mg of DPA, in each soft gel. The form is re-esterified triglyceride, which is the most absorbable form of fish oil. The absorption difference is real. Mixed tocopherols and rosemary extract protect the oil from oxidation, which is the other thing that matters with fish oil. Rancid omega-3 is worse than no omega-3.

Two ways to think about omega-3 dosing. The first is foundational, filling the gap that diet leaves, usually one to two soft gels a day. The second is targeted, a higher dose for a specific clinical purpose, taken under the guidance of a practitioner. Same supplement, two different intentions.

Take with food. Refrigeration is fine, not required.
