Plant sterols are cholesterol-shaped molecules that compete with cholesterol for the same absorption transporters in the small intestine. When sterols win that competition, less dietary cholesterol enters circulation, and the body responds by upregulating its own LDL receptors. The mechanism is elegant and well documented.

What sets this formula apart is the dose. Two capsules provide 1.3 grams of plant sterol esters, which is in the range studied for meaningful lipid support. Historically, traditional diets delivered close to a gram a day from grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Modern eating rarely gets there.

This is a partner to a real-food, fiber-forward plate. Plant sterols layer on top of a fiber-forward, plant-rich diet rather than replace it, and they fit naturally with the foundational work of supporting healthy cholesterol levels through food first.

I generally suggest splitting the dose with the two largest meals of the day, since sterols only act on cholesterol that is in the gut at the same time they are.
